  • Let’s make an animated witches cauldron and glowing coals! The motor inside the cauldron makes the “brew” stir slowly. I’ve broken it all down and made it simple to follow. All the links you’ll need are below! Happy Halloween!

    One of the absolute best DIY videos that I've ever seen. You explained simply and clearly and it's all done with normal stuff anyone can get their hands on. I hate watching a "beginner" DIY Halloween tutorial that was made using things like 3D printers etc that most people don't have. I loved this. Thank you

  • @ejbooth4176
    @ejbooth4176 Год назад +6

    I’m planning on undertaking this project for the upcoming Halloween. Both your video and overall design are phenomenal and I’m super excited for this one. That being said I really wanted to add some kind of fog effect to it. This design looks cool, but Wicked Makers had a cauldron that looked more realistic, mostly because it had a mist effect rising from the pot. I thought it would look best to combine both ideas and have the pot stirring with fog/mist effects as well to hide the obvious non-liquid properties of the clear plate. I think the most simple way to add a fog effect to this prop would be to just buy a fog machine with a tube running into the bottom of the cauldron. The fog then rises, and slips in between the holes and crevices in the plate. I just don’t know how convincing this effect would look when put into practice. Not sure if you have an answer to this, but do you think this concept would accomplish the desired outcome? Either way, thanks again for the inspiration! This one could really steal the show for me this year if I don’t botch it.

      I had the exact same idea. On another video I watched, they attempted to have a container of water sitting inside the top of the cauldron with an ultrasonic fogger with LED lights sitting in the water to create the fog. However, what they discovered was that because the water container didn't fit snugly to the interior wall of the cauldron, the fog went over the side of the container and down the gap between the container and the inner wall of the cauldron and ended up underneath the container, almost like it had been sucked downwards. As I am making my own cauldron as well, I had a similar idea to you where I thought maybe I could hose in fog (create a tunnel/tube with some pvc pipe at the time of making the fire pit) through the bottom/side and run the hose up around the inner edge of the lip of the cauldron and puncture holes in the hose. This would only create fog around the rim of the cauldron though, unless maybe holes were also punctured on the side of the hose so the fog could be pushed out of the hose towards the centre of the cauldron. Alternatively, following your idea, hose in the fog as I suggested above but fill the whole void in the cauldron underneath the perspex plate but may need a small fan or two to push the fog gently out. It may still only flow over the sides though and not over the top of the perspex. This will be trial and error I guess.

      Another possibility would be to put the fog generator inside the witch, and hose down the sleeve and stirrer to the top of the cauldron. Good haunting!

    At first I thought this was gonna be a sculpture video on The Black Cauldron, but it's just a witch's cauldron 😅

    I thought it was a mantle-size piece. This gave me ideas for a miniature! I wonder if music box/cuckoo clock components would be best for movement

      Oh that sounds like a wonderful idea! I think a music box component would work better

    Great video will definitely attempt to put this together! I am trying to get all similar size to what you had and the I cant seem to find a 17 inch cauldron. I do see the 16 inch piece of acrylic though

      I’m glad you liked the video!
      It’s not a 17 inch cauldron you need, it’s a 22 inch cauldron with a 17 inch diameter opening.
      They actually have them for 20 bucks at party city. Here’s the link:

    I picked up Great Stuff PestBlock. It comes in gray color and would take less paint to cover and accent the foam.

      The reason the red can was used was to save money. The pest block cost 2-3x more so it starts adding up
